Vista Solar was commissioned to design and install a 149 kW solar system on two of the Academy’s campus buildings. A significant portion of the installation would be installed using a flush-mounted racking system on the classroom rooftops with the remainder of the system being installed using a tilt-up racking solution over the gym.
Before construction of the system could begin, the Academy needed to find a way to purchase the system. With a significant portion of solar installations being paid for by federal tax incentives, it didn’t make sense for the Academy to purchase the system outright. Vista Solar was able to provide a solar lease solution that allowed the Academy to go solar without making a capital investment in the system. The lease payments were calculated to ensure that the savings generated by the system would pay for the payments – making the system cash flow positive right out of the gate.
Going solar, in combination with the solar lease, allowed Mountain View Academy to save money on their electricity bill without affecting their precious capital resources – a win for the school and a win for the students.
